A rare Cognac from a small estate in La Brousse, a commune near Matha. The current producer, born in 1952, still keeps cognacs distilled by his father and grandfather. The estate did not have its first traditional 16-hectolitre Maresté still until 1950 — before that they distilled, like most of the holdings in the Charente, in a small pot of 500 to 600 litres. They used wood during the day for the brouillis and charcoal at night for the bonnes-chauffes. This Cognac was blended from two lots by the winegrower himself, with the guidance of a great Cognac house.
